During these uncertain times, delivering safe, reliable hearing services is our #1 priority. We want individuals who may be at risk for contracting COVID-19 to feel safe and comfortable. We want everyone who visits our center to know that we are taking extra precautions by utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE), sanitizing rooms after each client, properly spacing appointments to allow rooms enough time to air out, limiting the number of in-center clients and providing “curbside” hearing services. Additionally, we are now offering several exciting new contactless services to better serve you!
Online Hearing Screenings
You can now check your hearing from the comfort of your home with CSHC’s free online hearing screening! To complete this hearing screening, you need headphones or earbuds and any mobile device or laptop connected to the internet. This quick online test is simple to use and the results are easy to understand. Once you’re ready, you can visit https://www.shoeboxonline.com/charlottespeechhearing/?refSource=website to complete your hearing screening. At the end of your test, you will learn if you have “good hearing, hearing loss, or significant hearing loss.”. If your test indicates that you have a hearing loss, please contact our center for further testing and recommendations.
Curbside Self-Administered Hearing Screenings
CSHC is also offering Curbside Hearing Screenings from the comfort of your vehicle. This is a great option for individuals who do not have internet access or headphones.
For this type of appointment, you will call the center to let us know you have arrived. You will park your car, roll down the windows and turn your engine off. An audiologist dressed in PPE (face mask and gloves) will visit you at your vehicle. Through your open window, the audiologist will hand you a disinfected iPad and headphones to place on your head. The audiologist will then distance themselves from your vehicle and wait until you have completed your test. When you are finished, you will remove the headphones and hand the items back to the audiologist to disinfect. The audiologist will then review your results and give recommendations for next steps, depending on what type of follow-up is needed.
Curbside Hearing Evaluations
Even further, CSHC is also offering Curbside Hearing Evaluations from your vehicle, which is a more thorough examination of your hearing thresholds. This new way of obtaining a hearing assessment while remaining physically distant is a great alternative to traditional hearing evaluations, which have to be conducted in a sound booth.
Similar to Curbside Hearing Screenings, on the day of your appointment, you will call the center to let us know you have arrived. An audiologist dressed in PPE will visit you at your vehicle. Through your open window, the audiologist will hand you disinfected headphones to place on your head. The audiologist will then distance themselves from your vehicle and perform the testing. Once the test is complete, the audiologist will review your results and give recommendations for next steps, depending on what type of follow-up is needed.
