About Us

Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center (CSHC) was founded by the Junior League of Charlotte in 1967. Our organization was the first community speech and hearing center in North Carolina. Today, we are the only free-standing, nonprofit speech and hearing center in the state.

Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center is a unique organization that provides high quality services to everyone. Additionally, by choosing our organization as your speech and/or hearing healthcare provider, you are supporting our community initiatives.

Hearing and speech-language disorders affect more than 40 million Americans. We strive to make a lasting impact on those in need in our community, to improve their quality of life and help make them successful, productive members of society.

Mission

At Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center we provide access to superior speech-language and hearing services that empower and transform lives.

Vision

Our vision is that everyone in need, regardless of income or other barriers, has access to the speech-language and hearing services they need to build their own pathways to success and to obtain a meaningful and enriched life.

Values

  1. We believe that excellence in service includes treating clients with compassion and respect.
  2. We believe that communication leads to empowerment and self-reliance.
  3. We believe our friendly, caring environment nurtures those we serve as well as our employees.
  4. We believe that a team of professionals that is diverse in experience and expertise is critical to serving the varied needs of our clients.

Goals

Communication allows us to learn and to go about our daily lives without fear or confusion. Even further, it allows us to share our love with others and receive theirs in turn. Many hearing and speech-impaired individuals are unable to express their thoughts and feelings or understand another’s message. As a result, many of these individuals experience a negative affect on their quality of life. For these reasons, it is our goal that everyone in our sphere of influence, regardless of barriers, receives services to improve any speech, language, or hearing problem to allow them to communicate as effectively as possible.
