Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center (CSHC) was founded by the Junior League of Charlotte in 1967. Our organization was the first community speech and hearing center in North Carolina. Today, we are the only free-standing, nonprofit speech and hearing center in the state.
Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center is a unique organization that provides high quality services to everyone. Additionally, by choosing our organization as your speech and/or hearing healthcare provider, you are supporting our community initiatives.
Hearing and speech-language disorders affect more than 40 million Americans. We strive to make a lasting impact on those in need in our community, to improve their quality of life and help make them successful, productive members of society.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
At Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center, we believe that all voices should be heard and that a diversity of perspectives and experiences strengthens our organization. We commit to fostering diversity within our staff and board, and to holding equity and inclusion as vital threads that strengthen the fabric of the organization and therefore our ability to carry out our mission. We seek to create a feeling of belonging that connects and empowers all and encourages those with whom we interact to show up as their true selves.
Goals
Communication allows us to learn and to go about our daily lives without fear or confusion. Even further, it allows us to share our love with others and receive theirs in turn. Many hearing and speech-impaired individuals are unable to express their thoughts and feelings or understand another’s message. As a result, many of these individuals experience a negative affect on their quality of life. For these reasons, it is our goal that everyone in our sphere of influence, regardless of barriers, receives services to improve any speech, language, or hearing problem to allow them to communicate as effectively as possible.
